Concerts on the Common

Learn about our upcoming concert season…

Our concerts are held on the Londonderry, New Hampshire Town Common. Our first concert, with the LHS jazz bands and rock orchestra, is on a Monday. The rest of the concerts are held on Wednesday evenings. They are all from 7:00 to 8:30.

The summer of 2014 will be our thirteenth season of concerts! We are working have a great schedule of diverse and talented performers. The artists and bands range from local groups to regional performers to nationally know acts. In 2010, we had performers from as far away as London and Nashville. If YOU have a favorite band or performer that you would like to have play for us, please email us at with your suggestions!

We plan to have different local groups offering concessions at our concerts, and we have an ice cream truck for the kids!

Weather Policy

We ALWAYS have a scheduled concert. If it is raining/bad weather,  then we move the concert to the Matthew Thornton gym or the Londonderry High School cafeteria (see the evening’s listing below for the evening’s alternate location). Both schools are  just north of the Common on Mammoth Road. Just park in the appropriate school’s parking lot and come on in the school’s front entrance!

See you at the concerts!

2014 Summer Concert Schedule

Concerts are from 7:00 to 8:30

2-June – Londonderry High Music Showcase featuring Jazz Lab, Rock Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble Groups

We always start out the concert season right –  and that means with our own jazz bands! This is the last concert for the Seniors in the band, and it is always a wonderful evening. This year, for the first time, we are including a performance by the new LHS Rock Orchestra. This is a show that you don’t want to miss!

11-June – The Jandee Lee Porter Band

The Jandee Lee Porter Band played at COTC last year, and we had to get them back. What great musicians! Americana, Folk, Country, Pop and Rock would be just some of the ways to describe this band. Everyone gave them rave reviews when they performed last year – their music was heart felt and honest. Professional musicians surround this songstress to form a band to be reckoned with. They are a remarkable six-piece band comprised of guitars, bass, drums, pedal steel and a powerful female lead singer.

The Jandee Lee Porter band features cover material and an arsenal of original music covering many generations, which will make you think you’ve heard it on the radio before. They continue to explore different original music all while playing current and older hits. In the past, they have opened for such renowned country music artists as the Zac Brown Band, Reba McIntyre, Jo Dee Messina, Leeann Rimes, and Kellie Pickler. The band has produced 3 CD’s in 4 years and is currently working on their 4th album that is set to come out this summer!

18-June – Malabar

Malabar, a seven-piece band, began as Malabar Mambo in New York City in 2004. The original concept was to play funky and soulful world music that kept people moving. And the musical concept is unchanged: Malabar remains a world music band with influences of various Island music genres. The name Malabar refers to the tropical, multicultural southwest coast of India, which is also the land of band leader Rho’s heritage.

Since Malabar moved to the Boston area, the band has enjoyed residencies at the well-known Middle East Corner in Cambridge, and Darryl’s Corner Bar and Kitchen in Boston. This is going to be one reggae, soul, Latin, and world music-infused night of funky music!

25-June – Manchuka

After last year’s tight tight performance and the audience’s enthusiastic reaction, we had to get them back! Manchuka is an exciting 10-piece dance band consisting of a full rhythm section, a full horn section and two lead singers.

The seasoned musicians in this group provide light jazz, big band swing and high energy dance music from the 60?s, 70?s, and 80?s. The diverse backgrounds of Manchuka bring together many influences from the past and blend them with a new and contemporary feel. The result? An irresistible urge to get on your feet and dance!

This group consists of ten musicians playing music that they not only love, but music they believe in. It’s as real as it gets. So you are invited along, to listen and to move your body and soul to the deep musical groove of this unique blend of musicians.

02-July – NO CONCERT

09-July – Evan Goodrow

All original sound is historically hard to define. The “Evan Goodrow Band” live in that world despite owning motown, jazz, blues, and dance influences that bleed out in both their songwriting formats and their jamming abilities. And in the trio format setting, there’s no place to hide the soul pounding sound. In short, it’s a lot of sound for three guys. We’ve been following Evan for a while now, and think that you will love the sound, too. This is going to be a rockin’ evening!

16-July – The Jon Abrams Band

Jon Abrams is known for performing as lead singer and pianist in the touring production of Broadway’s “Movin’ Out,” the musical featuring 26 Billy Joel songs. Jon and his band bring an authenticity to classic pop and rock that everyone will immediately recognize and enjoy. Come listen to an evening of the songs we all love to hear!

23-July – Blues Brothers Next Generation

Returning from their last COTC performance in 2011, this 10-piece band, including a horn section, will knock your socks off! Hear the fabulous Blues Brothers songs, played the way they should be played. They arrive in the “Bluesmobile”, and the fun doesn’t end there. This band both sounds great and is a blast to watch in concert!

30-July – Ken Yates and Brian Dunne

We again welcome recording artists Ken Yates and Brian Dunne. They both performed for Concerts On The Common the past two years, and we wanted to get them back once again!

Brian Dunne was part of Boston’s music scene for many years before moving to New York City. His pop/rock style is widely influenced by Sam Cooke, Tom Waits and Bruce Springsteen. A simplicity and devotion to his music making craft is what makes Brian’s music so authentic and addicting.

“Ken Yates’ music is solid as stone and clear as mountain air… he proves the future is in very good shape” – Livingston Taylor

Ken went to Berklee School of Music, and, writes songs that are…well, as John Mayer puts it, “Want to hear a great song? (I mean a REALLY great song?)”. Ken just came out with a new CD, and it is spectacular. Ken’s performance is not to be missed!

06 August – Bruce Marshall Group and James Montgomery

For our last show of 2014, we are very excited to welcome back Bruce Marshall. He played for us last summer with his band, and they were, by all accounts, fantastic. They treated us to a soaring ride as they ripped through a catalog of original material that truly set the band apart. Lead by Bruce, the musicianship of the entire group was front and center. This summer, we asked Bruce and his band to perform for us again. This is going to be another awesome evening of Blues, R&B, Rock and Southern Boogie. But, this time, he will be joined by his friend James Montgomery. James is well-known at Londonderry’s Tupelo Music Hall and throughout New England as a true showman. He has toured with many major artists, including Aerosmith, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, the Allman Brothers, Steve Miller and others. The two of these great musicians together, backed by a tremendous band, is going to set the Common on fire! Be sure to join us!
